Another rarity that we built and quickly sold...An Italian Carillo 1970s Road bike which was stripped, shotblasted and fully rebuilt. The bike was loaned to a cafe for a short while for promotional purposes and hung on the wall above the serving counter. Again, a blend of vintage and modern parts were used and the result was a stunning looking classic.. !
Super rare early 1970s 'Bazar Familia' steel framed race bike -Small size 50cm. This bike was built to order for a client who wanted to enter in vintage cycling events and it has been used in l'eroica in Tuscany as well as Eroica Britannia. The brief was to find a small steel frame, and this was sourced from a supplier in the south of France and built with rebuilt 27" wheels with Wide flange hubs and a combination of french parts such as Stronglight chainset and Lyotard pedals, Gearing is Shimano 105 Golden Arrow 12 speed and braking by Mafac. To finish off, a Brooks Swift honey saddle was fitted, with matching Brooks leather honey bar tape. Action shots courtesy of customer.
1963 Sun Super Snipe - Completely renovated for a client in Japan, this bike was fully stripped down and repainted in a custom paint mix of metallic pink with metallic purple detailing and original style decals and headbadge. New Old Stock period parts were sourced including Mafac centre pull brakes, and Campagnolo wide flange whele hubs which were laced to Weinmann 27 x 1 1/4 alloy rims with new old stock Michelin World Tour tyres. Brooks honey leather bar tape was used on the original polished Guidon Philippe handlebars whilst a Brooks swift honey saddle and short stainless steel mudguards were fitted. The chainset was a cottered Williams steel item matched upto a new chain and freewheel and alloy Lyotard pedals. The end result was a truly unique period racer that really stood out from the crowd!
The brief was clear - "Find a 25" steel framed bike with relaxed geometry and completely rebuild it in readiness for the L'eroica festival in Italy in October 2017."
The gearing had to be suitable for climbing severe tuscan ascents and wheels/ tyres that would withstand being hammered along dirt roads.
We sourced a 1981Claud Butler majestic that fitted the bill perfectly. The bike came from its original owner of 36 years and had been immaculately maintained and kept. After a full stripdown the bike was fitted with new parts including chain and freewheel, sealed bottom bracket, the heavy brake calipers were swapped for lighter versions, Wolber alloy wheels with Campagnolo record hubs were hand poished and fitted and the whole Suntour gearing system stripped, cleaned and re-assembled and fitted. The original GB handlebars and stem were in excellent shape and were wrapped in Brooks honey micro fibre bar tape, to be matched to a Brooks B17 saddle by Steve, our customer upon collection. Now begins a three month period of getting used to the bike and the big 115k ride in Italy in October...http://www.eroicagaiole.com/ This project was a joy to work on, and is the kind of work we really enjoy. Get in touch if you are looking for a classic road bike or require a similar build for L'eroica or a similar event. !
Occasionally we're asked to build something really special for a surprise present....this lovely cream Peugeot racer was one such project. Our customer wanted to surprise his girlfriend with a Vintage Haus custom build and chose this newly restored Peugeot Reynolds 531 frame which we'd been saving for such an occasion. The build took a week to complete and this beautiful racer was handed over to a surprised and very happy girlfriend. If you'd like to surprise someone special with a bicycle that's as individual as they are...please give us a call.
Cream 52cm Peugeot Reynolds 531 seven speed built for a birthday surprise for a client's girlfriend. The frame was professionally shotblasted and powdercoated cream with a top lacquer and rebuilt as a seven speed city bike with Shimano 600 / Stronglight chainset, Mavic MA rims and new Peugeot decal kit. We also custom made and supplied a one off personalised logo for the client. The result? A great looking lightweight steel city bike with classic looks and modern feel.
Mercian - a 1960s British-made Classic
We love putting old bikes back together again. This vintage Mercian had been a valued family member and we were asked to restore it to its former glory.
We're happy to work with UK-based and overseas owners and will rejuvenate a bicycle owned by you, or source a bicycle for rebuilding and restoration.
As you might appreciate, each project is different and a quotation can be given, only after looking at the machine in question and discussing your requirements. Our service can include a full frame restoration including shot blasting and a repaint or powder-coated finish in any colour of your choice.
